I tried the dark ale. I was hoping for more flavor. It was ok. A little hoppy for me. I really wished I could have tried the barley wine. It wasn't available at MGM in Burnsville MN.

Sorry guys. I picked up a sixer of Mythical White while in Missoula, MT. I'm hoping that it was just a bad batch, but the three I opened displayed the characteristics of wild yeast. Sour taste, excess carbonation, and a healthy layer of sediment in the bottom. I brew beer and have had batches go bad on me. This was a bad beer!

The first Barleywine I ever tasted was from Big Hole, and their's is still the best I have ever had. The service is excellent in their little tasting room. Head Smashed In is one of my favorite Montana beers to date. Cheers to you all!

Headstrong Pale Ale has strong hop and malt flavors, well balanced; less malty on tap than from the bottle it seemed. Wisdom Cream Ale (on tap) was smooth and flavorful. "The Corral" in Big Sky, MT served a Corral Dark Ale they said was from Big Hole. It had a big malty flavor; I wondered if it was actually a dark lager.

I brew quite a bit of my own beer and have sampled beers from all over europe. Headstrong and Mythical White are as good as anything I've ever tasted. My only regret is I have been unable to find them outside of MT. I made a special side trip this past summer to purchase some and am looking forward to returning this summer.

Headstrong Pale on draught is the best pale ale commercial I've tasted in MT. Solid body, malt comes through, good "smack" of hops, round and inviting ale. Mythical White while not in my opinion atrue Gran Cru style is an awesome brew, more in vein of a Saison or turbo-witbeer. Try it, you'll smile.
